On the morning of April 15, a delegation from Dresden University of Applied Sciences (FHD), Germany, visited China Jiliang University (CJLU) to discuss plans for establishing a German Language Teaching Center at CJLU, among other areas of cooperation. The delegation was led by Mr. Volker Leipnitz, Member of the Board at FHD, and Ms. Weny Fu, Director of the International Office. Vice President Wang Binrui attended the reception. Representatives from the International Office, School of International Education, College of Information Engineering, College of Economics and Management, College of Foreign Languages and Cultures, and College of Art and Communication also joined the meeting.
The roundtable discussion took place in Room A216 of the Mingde Building. On behalf of the university, Vice President Wang Binrui extended a warm welcome to the FHD delegation and reviewed the recent progress in bilateral exchanges. He noted that since 2023, the two universities have maintained close contact through frequent visits and collaborative dialogues. Delegations from CJLU visited FHD in November 2023 and again in November 2024, during which a strategic cooperation agreement was signed and FHD's practical training bases were inspected. These visits laid a solid foundation for further collaboration. FHD delegations have also visited CJLU on multiple occasions, engaging with faculty and students and fostering mutual understanding and cooperation. Vice President Wang expressed hope that this visit would serve as a new starting point for deeper, broader, and higher-level cooperation in scientific research and talent cultivation.
Mr. Volker Leipnitz expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and spoke highly of the progress made in the partnership between the two institutions. He remarked that the proposed German Language Teaching Center aligns with current international trends and offers an opportunity for resource sharing and complementary strengths. The center is envisioned as a comprehensive platform for German language learning, language proficiency testing, and preparation for study in Germany, contributing to broader and deeper Sino-German educational cooperation. Mr. Leipnitz also introduced several key educational initiatives currently underway at FHD and expressed enthusiasm about expanding collaboration with CJLU in language training, interdisciplinary development, and faculty and student exchange, with the aim of establishing a new model of Sino-German educational partnership.
During the discussion, the two sides held in-depth exchanges on the goals, positioning, operational framework, and future development plans for the German Language Teaching Center. They also addressed issues of mutual concern and reached preliminary consensus on several aspects, laying a solid groundwork for the implementation of future projects and institutional mechanisms.
This visit has further deepened the ties between CJLU and Dresden University of Applied Sciences. It marked an important step toward the establishment of the German Language Teaching Center and the launch of future educational programs. Both parties are committed to advancing practical cooperation in language training and student exchange in the near term, while gradually extending collaboration to areas such as joint research and talent development, thereby promoting mutual benefit and integrated development between Chinese and German higher education institutions in education and science.
