CJLU Launches New Sino-Foreign Master's Program in Collaboration with the University of Camerino

May 14, 2025

Recently, the Ministry of Education of China announced the latest results of its review of Sino-foreign cooperative education programs. The Master's program in Resources and Environment jointly offered by China Jiliang University (CJLU) and the University of Camerino in Italy has been officially approved (Approval No. MOE33IT1A20252423N). This marks CJLU's second approved joint master's program following the Data Analytics program launched in April 2023, bringing the total number of CJLU's Sino-foreign cooperative education programs to 4.

The new program is based on CJLU's master's degree in Resources and Environment and the University of Camerino's master's program in Geology, Environment, Resources, and Risks. By introducing advanced educational concepts and high-quality teaching resources from the Italian partner, the program integrates the academic strengths of both institutions. It aims to develop an innovative graduate education model and enhance talent training quality in key areas such as carbon metrology and ecological governance. The program follows a “3+0” model, with all three years of study completed at CJLU. It enrolls 20 students annually under China's national postgraduate admission plan. Students must take the unified national postgraduate entrance examination and will be admitted according to national policies. Additionally, they must pass an English interview jointly conducted by faculty from both universities.

In recent years, CJLU has identified “carbon metrology” as one of its key development areas. The university has launched postgraduate training and scientific research in related fields such as carbon capture, carbon monitoring, and carbon sink management—areas that align closely with the strengths of the University of Camerino. Through the introduction of high-quality educational resources from the University of Camerino, CJLU seeks to explore new pathways for China-Italy cooperative education, promote reform in graduate education, and raise the training standards for professionals in resources and environmental sciences.

The successful approval of this program is a direct outcome of the university delegation's visit to the University of Camerino in May 2024, which significantly advanced bilateral cooperation. Looking ahead, CJLU will continue to uphold the principles of openness and collaboration, strengthen partnerships with universities and research institutions around the world—including in Italy—and deepen cooperation in talent cultivation and technological innovation, further promoting the university's high-quality international development.
