On October 15, Shanghai Ranking, a global leader in higher education evaluation, officially released the "2024 Shanghai Ranking's Best Chinese Subjects". Amid fierce academic competition, eight disciplines from China Jiliang University have stood out and made it onto the prestigious list, with Mechanical Engineering newly added to the rankings.
In the "2024 Shanghai Ranking's Best Chinese Subjects", the Instrument Science and Technology discipline of CJLU ranked in the top 20%, securing 14th place. Biology and Law ranked in the top 30%, placing 59th and 61st, respectively, with their rankings rising by 5 and 3 spots compared to last year. Additionally, Optical Engineering, Management Science and Engineering, and Materials Science and Engineering ranked in the top 40%, placing 37th, 71st, and 93rd. Notably, the Materials Science and Engineering discipline climbed 6 places from last year. Control Science and Engineering ranked in the top 50%, coming in at 81st, while the newly added Mechanical Engineering discipline also made it into the top 50%, ranking 105th.
The evaluation system of the "2024 Shanghai Ranking's Best Chinese Subjects" covers five dimensions: talent cultivation, platforms and projects, achievements and awards, academic papers, and top-tier talent. It comprises 18 specific indicators and more than 70 measurement metrics, providing a comprehensive and multi-dimensional assessment of each discipline's overall competitiveness. All ranking data are sourced from third-party databases, including the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and authoritative international and domestic literature databases, ensuring the fairness and credibility of the rankings.
