Feb 21, 2023

The College of Optical and Electronic Technology of China Jiliang University was established in March 2007 on the basis of the optical metrology and testing specialty established by Academician Wang Daheng in 1986.

The college has 2,157 full-time students, including 1,468 undergraduate students, 689 graduate students (684 master students and 5 doctoral students). The college has 149 teaching and administrative staff, including 129 full-time teachers, 96% of whom with doctoral degrees, 31 with senior professional titles, 46 with associate professional titles, 12 supervisors for doctoral students, 3 national level talents, and 11  provincial and ministerial level talents.

The college has three departments (research institutes), including the Department of Opto-Electronic Information Science and Engineering, the Department of Electronic Science and Technology, and the Institute of Opto-Electronic Materials and Devices. It has 1 first-class discipline doctoral program in optical engineering, 2 first-class discipline master programs in optical engineering and electronic science and technology, and 1 professional master program in electronic information. At present, there are four undergraduate majors, namely Opto-Electronic Information Science and Engineering, Electronic Science and Technology, Microelectronic Science and Engineering, and Functional Materials. The college has a complete talent training system at the undergraduate, master, and doctor levels. The major of Opto-Electronic Information Science and Engineering is a "national first-class major", "national comprehensive reform pilot major", "national characteristic major", and "Zhejiang advantageous major". It passed the certification of engineering education in 2018. The major of Electronic Science and Technology is "national first-class major", "Zhejiang first-class major", "Zhejiang key major", and "Zhejiang characteristic major". It has passed the certification of engineering education of the Ministry of Education and has been included in the training plan for outstanding engineers of the Ministry of Education. The major of Functional Materials is an characteristic major of Zhejiang Province. The course "Principles of Optics" was rated as a national first-class course.

The college has created many firsts in the development process of CJLU. It has won the first National Science and Technology Award - the second prize of national technological invention; It has one major that is among the first batch of national first class characteristic majors - Opto-Electronic Information Science and Engineering; It has independently presided over and completed the first national "973" project- "Basic Research on New Generation Optical Fiber Intelligent Sensor Network and Key Devices"; It has built the first engineering research center of the Ministry of Education -Engineering Research Center of Metrology Technology and Instrument, Ministry of Education; It has one discipline among the first batch of  disciplines in CJLU with the right to grant master's degrees - Optical Engineering, and has established the first key laboratory of Zhejiang Province - Zhejiang Province Key Laboratory of Modern Measurement Technology and Instrument. In addition, in terms of platform, the college has established important teaching and research platforms such as "International Sci-Tech Cooperation Demonstration Base for Functional Material Measurement and Testing Standards", "International Science and Technology Cooperation Base for Micro-Nano Manufacturing and Optoelectronic Testing", "Key Laboratory of Light-sensing and Visual Detection for State Market Regulation", and "National and Local Joint Engineering Laboratory for Rare Earth Magnetic/Photoelectric Functional Materials".

The college has won 2 second prizes of National technological Invention Award, 4 first prizes of  Zhejiang Provincial Science and Technology Award, 1 first prize of Inspection Science and Technology Award of AQSIQ, 1 first prize of Science and Technology Award of China Instrument and Control Society, 1 second prize of Excellent Scientific Research Achievement Award of higher education of the Ministry of Education, 8 second prizes of Zhejiang Provincial Science and Technology Award, 2 Innovation Achievement Awards of China's Industry-University-Research Cooperation, 2 second prizes of Zhejiang Higher Education Teaching Achievement Award, and 1 second prize of National Teaching Achievement Award. The college has 9 research and development centers jointly established with enterprises, and more than 50 scientific research achievements have been transferred.  Teachers of the college has presided over more than 500 scientific and technological projects, including national key research and development plans, 973 projects, 863 projects, national major instrument projects, international cooperation projects, national funded projects, etc., with an average annual scientific research fund of more than 40 million yuan in recent three years.

The college actively performs its social service function, strengthened the cooperation between the university and enterprises, and set up student scholarships such as TOSPO Lighting Scholarship, SELF Scholarship, and Hangzhou Zetian Innovation Scholarship to support the development and growth of students, providing excellent learning, research and experimental conditions for students. Students have won 1 "China Youth Science and Technology Innovation Award", 3 "Special Scholarships of China Instrument and Control Society", 3 silver prizes and 2 bronze prizes in the National College Students Challenge Cup Competition, and 1 silver prize in the first National College Students Internet plus Competition.
