The College of Arts and Communication of China Jiliang University was established in 2007. It has four undergraduate majors: industrial design, advertising, visual communication, and environmental design. It has a master's degree program (MFA) in the field of art and design. At present, there are 72 faculty members, including 6 professors, 17 with professional titles above associate professors, 95% with master's degrees and above, and 20 teachers with doctor's degrees. There are 1,002 undergraduate students in 40 classes and 80 graduate students. It has established one experimental teaching center and three research institutes that have received special financial support from Zhejiang Province. Art design is the third batch of key disciplines at the college level, and the first class discipline of design is the fourth batch of key disciplines at the college level. There are 1 national first-class specialty (industrial design), 2 Zhejiang provincial first-class specialties (industrial design, visual communication design) and 5 provincial first-class courses.
The college attaches importance to the integration of art, science and technology, and culture, adheres to brand and characteristic education, and cultivates compound and application-oriented professionals with high comprehensive quality, strong innovation and entrepreneurship ability, and meeting the needs of the times. Focusing on professional characteristics, we have built 8 industry-university-research cooperation platforms and more than 30 practice teaching bases in Wenling, Tonglu, Pingyang and Yunhe, and have built a provincial industry-university collaborative education project; The college explores professional studio system, cooperates with Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand, Bemidji State University, the United States of America, Istituto Europeo di Design, Italy, and Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo LeonNuevo, Mexico to carry out "innovative design camp", and improve the talent training level in various ways. The college actively organizes and participates in the theme publicity and design of the "5 · 20" World Metrology Day and World Standards Day. The students have won many awards in international design competitions such as Red Dot Design Award, Industrie Forum Design (IF), Design Intelligence Award (DIA). In various academic competitions, they have won 23 national awards, 284 provincial and ministerial awards, 1,240 various patents, and more than 160 patent transformation projects. The employment rate and entrepreneurship rate of graduates rank top in CJLU. Among the alumni, one was selected among the top ten industrial design elites in Zhejiang Province, two were selected among the top ten industrial design elites in Hangzhou City, and one of them won the Zhejiang Industrial Design Industry Contribution Award.
The college participated in the establishment of the Design Standards Branch of China Industrial Design Association, and CJLU served as the vice chairman unit. In recent five years, teachers in the College have successively undertaken more than 30 national, provincial and ministerial teaching and research projects, more than 80 projects, more than 300 enterprise service projects, with a total contract fund of more than 21 million yuan, more than 30 books, more than 200 papers, and more than 300 patents. At the same time, in serving rural revitalization and implementing Zhejiang's "Double 8 Strategy", we actively carry out innovative design services and research on cultural and creative industries, and promote the standardization of national art education. We have received a letter of appreciation for the work of "targeted poverty alleviation by geographical indications" organized by the Trademark Office of the China National Intellectual Property Administration, as well as thanks and praise from local governments such as Shuangxi Village of Tiantai County, Yu Village of Anji County, Taibian Village of Taishun County, Meiyuan Village of Yunhe County, etc. The college has won a good social reputation.
