I. Program Introduction and Enrollment Targets
Under Decree No. 42 The Regulations on the Administration of the Enrollment and Cultivation of International Students by Educational Institutions of the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Public Security of the People’s Republic of China as well as The Implementing Guidelines on the Successful Opening-Up in Education in a New Period and The Action Plan for Overseas Studies in Zhejiang of Zhejiang Province, the University will continue to enroll international students in fall 2023 in bachelor’s degree and non-degree education programs for international students, with the language for teaching and daily administration to be English or Chinese.
The enrollment targets of this program are foreign citizens who do not have Chinese nationalities under the Nationality Law of the People’s Republic of China while fulfilling the other entry criteria. A Chinese citizen who applies for this program after immigrating to a foreign country or as a foreign student must have held a valid foreign passport for 4 years or above and have a record of actual overseas residence of more than 2 years (overseas residence of a minimum of 9 months in a year may be counted as one year, with the entry and exit signatures/stamps to serve as the basis) within the most recent 4 years (before April 30 of the year of entry).

III. Application System and Procedures of Admission

After the students have submitted their applications, the materials are reviewed in accordance with the admission criteria by the School of International Education (SIE) which will handle the admission procedures and prepare student visa materials for those who fulfill the conditions of admission.
IV. Criteria of Admission
The following conditions are required of a student of a program for international students:
(1) Providing a high school graduation certificate and transcript, with an additional Chinese or English translation if the original is non-Chinese or non-English.
(2) Providing a medical examination report and a certificate of no criminal record that fulfill the conditions.
(3) Providing a valid passport and an identification photo that fulfills the conditions.
(4) Providing a certificate of their Chinese/English level, with an HSK4 transcript with a pass result required of a student who applies for the major of Business Chinese.
(5) A student who is studying or has once studied in China must provide corresponding materials such as the corresponding certificate of study, the attendance rate, the certificate of transfer (under specific conditions), and the visa page or the residence permit.
(6) A self-introduction video in Chinese or English that fulfills the conditions.
(7) A letter of commitment on the prohibition of narcotics that fulfills the conditions.
(8) Economic guarantee materials that fulfill the conditions.
(9) Other conditions decided by the SIE in accordance with the features of the program.
Additional note: Due to the impact of the pandemic, a student who applies for an online teaching program overseas may be temporarily exempt from providing a valid medical examination report and a certificate of no criminal record, which needs to be complemented before applying for entry to China.
V. Scholarships and Their Criteria
There are 2 categories of scholarships set for the enrollment of the international students of fall 2023, which are CJLU International Students Freshmen Scholarship for Degree Programs and CJLU International Students Freshmen Scholarship for Non-Degree Programs respectively. The list of the winners of scholarships will be publicized after the appraisal through comparison by the SIE.
1. CJLU International Students Freshmen Scholarship for Degree Programs
There are three classes for CJLU International Students Freshmen Scholarship for Degree Programs in total, which are the Class-A Scholarship, Class-B Scholarship, and Class-C Scholarship respectively.
(1) The Class-A Scholarship of CJLU International Students Freshmen Scholarship for Degree Programs
The Class-A Scholarship of CJLU International Students Freshmen Scholarship for Degree Programs covers the tuition of one year. Students applying for this scholarship need to meet the following basic requirements:
a. Applicants from non-English-speaking countries are required to provide one of the following language proficiency certificates:IELTS≥6;TOEFL(iBT score)≥70; HSK5 qualification certificate;Certificate of more than 2 years of education in English-speaking countries; Certificate of having education delivered in English for more than 2 years; The School of International Education has assessed and confirmed that the applicant’s English ability is excellent.
b. The average score of senior high school is B or above.
c. Two (or more) High School (or above) teacher recommendation letters.
d. If the applicant is a transfer student from other schools in China, his/her attendance rate cannot be less than 90%. CJLU students who want to change the program also need to provide an attendance rate of no less than 90%.
(2) The Class-B Scholarship of CJLU International Students Freshmen Scholarship for Degree Programs
The Class-B Scholarship of CJLU International Students Freshmen Scholarship for Degree Programs covers the tuition of one semester. Students applying for this scholarship need to meet the following basic requirements:
a. Applicants from non-English-speaking countries are required to provide one of the following language proficiency certificates:IELTS≥5.5; TOEFL(iBT score)≥55; HSK4 qualification certificate; Certificate of more than 1 year of education in English-speaking countries; Certificate of having education delivered in English for more than 1 year; The School of International Education has assessed and confirmed that the applicant’s English ability is good.
b. The average score of senior high school is C or above.
c. One (or more) High School (or above) teacher recommendation letter(s).
d. If the applicant is a transfer student from other schools in China, his/her attendance rate cannot be less than 85%. CJLU students who want to change the program also need to provide an attendance rate of no less than 85%.
(3) The Class-C Scholarship of CJLU International Students Freshmen Scholarship for Degree Programs
The Class-C Scholarship of CJLU International Students Freshmen Scholarship for Degree Programs covers the tuition of half a semester. Students applying for this scholarship need to meet the following basic requirements:
Those who meet one of the following conditions a and b, but fail to meet the requirements at the same time, can apply for a third-class scholarship:
a. Applicants from non-English-speaking countries are required to provide one of the following language proficiency certificates: IELTS≥5.5; TOEFL(iBT score)≥55; HSK4 qualification certificate; Certificate of more than 1 year of education in English-speaking countries; Certificate of having education delivered in English for more than 1 year; The School of International Education has assessed and confirmed that the applicant’s English ability is good.
b. The average score of senior high school is C or above.
c. If the applicant is a transfer student from other schools in China, his/her attendance rate cannot be less than 80%. CJLU students who want to change the program also need to provide an attendance rate of no less than 80%.
2. CJLU International Students Freshmen Scholarship for Non-Degree Programs
The amount of CJLU International Students Freshmen Scholarship for Non-Degree Programs is 3,500 yuan per person. Students applying for this scholarship need to meet the following basic requirements:
(1) The student has never applied the non-degree program at our university before.
(2) The student has some basic English/Chinese language proficiency.
(3) If the student has been studying in China at other schools, his/her latest attendance rate should be no less than 90%. CJLU students who want to change the program also need to provide an attendance rate of no less than 90%.
VI. Charging Criteria of Accommodation
The University provides 3-person and 5-person rooms for international students, with the charging criteria of accommodation being 1500 yuan per person per bed per semester for a 3-person room and 800 yuan per person per bed per semester for a 5-person room.
