Forum on China (Yiwu) Standards City Development successfully held

On October 21, Forum on China (Yiwu) Standards City Development was held at Yiwu Campus of College of Modern Science and Technology, China Jiliang University. On the same day, the 26th China Yiwu International Commodities (Standards) Fair opened.

This forum was attended by many distinguished leaders and guests including Tian Shihong, vice administrator of State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) and administrator of Standardization Administration of the P.R.C. (SAC); Zhao Xiangeng, academician, former vice president of Chinese Academy of Engineering; Ji Zhengkun, former chairman of China Association for Standardization; Zhang Xiaogang, former president of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO); Liu Zhuohui, academician of International Academy for Quality and former chief engineer of General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People’s Republic of China (AQSIQ); Zhang Genming, CPC committee secretary and director-general of Zhejiang Administration for Market Regulation. Zhang Tuqiao, secretary of the CPC Committee of China Jiliang University (CJLU) and Jin Shangzhong, vice president of CJLU attended the forum. Song Mingshun, president of CJLU hosted this forum.

Leaders and experts from Standards Innovative Management Department of SAMR, Standards Technical Management Department of SAMR, China Association for Standardization, China Association for Quality Promotion, Chinese Academy of Inspection and Quarantine, Shandong Administration for Market Regulation, Zhejiang Administration for Market Regulation, Dali University, Yiwu Municipal Government also attended the forum.

Tian Shihong addresses the forum

Tian Shihong pointed out that standards constitute fundamental system for the modernization of urban governance system and governance capacity and are important means to promote scientific, standardized and refined urban construction and management. Standards are vital for cities to achieve "intensive" and "connotative" development. He mentioned that this forum brought together experts discussing standards city development and the modernization of urban governance system and governance capacity. It will further deepen the comprehensive national standardization reform pilot project of Zhejiang province, and further accelerate the construction of comprehensive reform pilot zone of international trade and “World’s Capital of Small Commodities”, exploring more useful experience and providing high-quality model for the construction of "standards cities" nationwide.

Zhang Tuqiao addresses the forum

Zhang Tuqiao mentioned that China Jiliang University will take this forum as an opportunity to further deepen comprehensive cooperation with Yiwu, and promote high-quality talents training and high-level scientific research directed by economic and social development needs of Yiwu.

Zhao Xiangeng delivers keynote speech

Zhao Xiangeng, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, delivered a keynote speech entitled "Implementing Standardization Strategy to Promote High-quality Development". In his opinion, "high-quality economic development must be guaranteed by high standards."

Zhang Xiaogang delivers keynote speech

Zhang Xiaogang, former president of ISO, delivered a keynote speech entitled “Standards Contributing to China's High-quality Development”. He stressed the important role of standardization in promoting economic development and social progress.

The signing ceremony of strategic cooperation between China Jiliang University and Dali University was also held at the forum. Jin Shangzhong, vice president of CJLU, and Duan Lihua, vice president of Dali University, signed a strategic cooperation agreement. The two universities will carry out exchanges and cooperation in the construction of standardization disciplines and majors, scientific research, talents training, team building and so on.
