2020 Quality Directors Conference themed “Embracing Changes---Making Quality a Competitive Advantage” was held in Hangzhou on November 21. Leaders from government departments, and over 200 quality experts, quality executives and representatives from well-known quality service bodies gathered in Hangzhou.
The Quality Directors Conference was initiated by China Jiliang University (CJLU) in 2018. Ge Hongliang, vice president of CJLU addressed the conference and pointed out that the Quality Directors Conference is a platform for mutual learning and experience sharing among practitioners, scholars and experts in the field of quality.
Jin Guoqiang, former president of Shanghai Academy of Quality Management delivered a speech titled “Quality Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in Strategic Emerging Industries”. Zong Fuji, academician of the International Academy for Quality and professor of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology delivered a speech titled “Quality Science and Engineering Driving Digital Transformation”. Zhou Mingdi, director of Quality Development Division, Nantong Municipal Administration for Market Regulation of Jiangsu Province introduced the institutional construction for chief quality officers of enterprises in Nantong. Wu Di, former chief representative and general manager of American Society of Quality in China elaborated on quality directors and strategic plan for high quality development of enterprises. Shi Qingqing, head of Quality Control Department of Gree Electric Appliances, Inc. shared experience of Gree in pursuing high-quality development.
Apart from keynote speeches in the main session, 2 parallel sessions for manufacturing and digital economy were held. There were not only leading enterprises sharing achievements and experience of quality research and practice, but also famous quality service bodies showing typical cases of quality empowering enterprises.
As Ge Hongliang mentioned in his speech, CJLU is a university distinctive for its metrology, standards, quality, market regulation, inspection and quarantine. CJLU adheres to the motto of “Developing National Economy by Metrology; Improving People’s Livelihood through Measurement” and stays true to the educational philosophy of “Metrology as University’s Cornerstone, Standards as its Code of Conduct, and Quality as its Career Goal”. Relying on characteristic majors such as Business Administration and Quality Management Engineering, CJLU cultivates high-quality talents for engineering and quality management and supports high-quality development with talents and research. As to the participants, they agreed that this conference plays a positive role in promoting enterprises’ quality management level and interactions among government departments, academic institutions, universities and enterprises.
