On the evening of June 16, China Jiliang University (CJLU) 2023 Commencement Ceremony was held. The graduates were conferred degrees at the ceremony. Zhang Tuqiao, secretary of CPC CJLU Committee; Xu Jiangrong, president of CJLU; Xiao Gang, deputy secretary of CPC CJLU Committee; Cheng Gang, deputy secretary of CPC CJLU Committee; Zhang Jiansheng, secretary of the CPC CJLU Commission for Discipline Inspection; Jin Shangzhong, vice president of CJLU; Wang Dizhao, vice president of CJLU; Wang Binrui, member of CPC CJLU Committee and Organization Department of CPC CJLU Committee; representatives of alumni; representatives of parents of graduates; representatives of teachers; heads of colleges and divisions; and the graduating class of 2023 attended the ceremony. 64,000 people watched the live broadcast of the Commencement Ceremony through CJLU’s wechat video account and TikTok video account.
President Xu Jiangrong advised graduates to remain true to their original aspirations, and avoid blind “rat race”. He pointed out that the reasonable competition among peers is not “rat race”, and it’s important that graduates enhance understanding, and run beyond “rat race”.
He encouraged the graduating class of 2023 to enrich themselves spiritually which may be achieved by reading good books. Young people should have great ambitions, know good virtues, and shoulder great responsibilities. Facing the uncertainty of the future, young people should shoulder their responsibility, make their voices heard, and contribute their wisdom.
Cheng Gang announced the list of 2023 Zhejiang provincial and university-level outstanding graduates and the list of liaison officers and council members for the graduating class of 2023. Jin Shangzhong announced resolution of the Academic Degree Evaluation Committee to confer degrees. The CJLU leaders awarded honorary certificates to representatives of Zhejiang provincial outstanding graduates and alumni liaison officers, and conferred degrees to representatives of the 2023 undergraduate graduates, master graduates, and international students.
Chen Xianlei, alumnus of the class of 2006, winner of Zhejiang Provincial Labor Medal, deputy director of Zhoushan Institute of Calibration and Testing for Quality and Technology Supervision; Staff representative Liu Hongmei and teacher representative Jiang Jinguo delivered commencement addresses. Heads of colleges sent best wishes to the graduating class of 2023.
