Delegation Visits Partner Institutions and Companies in Czech Republic and Germany

From August 20 to 27, Professor Yu Xiaoping, Vice Chairman of the University Development Committee, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Finance and Administration in Prague, and Dean of the Institute of Central and Eastern European Studies and the Zhejiang-Czech Prague Silk Road Institute, led a delegation to visit the University of Finance and Administration (VSFS) in Prague of the Czech Republic, Kiel University of Applied Sciences and the China Center at Kiel University in Germany, as well as our university’s partner, Euro China Development Company (Czech Belt and Road Hub), Chint Group's Noark Electric Europe, and the Czech subsidiary of Zhejiang Dahua Technology Co., Ltd. The delegation discussed a new round of cooperation for the Confucius Institute, explored collaboration with enterprises to jointly establish the Silk Road Institute, and sought new channels and models for internationalized education.

On August 21st, the five-member delegation visited the Confucius Institute at the University of Finance and Administration in Prague. Professor Jiang Hui, the Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute, guided the delegation through the library, faculty offices, classrooms, and cafeteria. The delegation observed a live Chinese language class from the summer camp for Chinese teachers and reviewed the development history of the Confucius Institute, discussing its development plan for the next five years.

On the afternoon of the 21st, and on the morning of the 22nd and 24th, the delegation held discussions with Euro China Development Company (Czech Belt and Road Hub), Chint Group's Noark Electric Europe, and the Czech subsidiary of Zhejiang Dahua Technology Co., Ltd. They reviewed the specific tasks under the cooperation framework for the Zhejiang-Prague Silk Road Institute, discussing localization of talent development in Prague, student internships abroad, university-industry partnerships, and collaborative research projects. The delegation also awarded plaques to the three partner organizations, recognizing them as co-founders of the Zhejiang-Czech Prague Silk Road Institute.

On the afternoon of the 22nd, the delegation met with Bohuslava Šenkýřová, President and Chair of the Board of the University of Finance and Administration in Prague, Emil Šenkýř, Vice Chair of the Board, and Petr Budinský, Vice President. They discussed the renewal of the Confucius Institute agreement and the execution of related agreements. On 23rd, the delegation held comprehensive discussions with the University of Finance and Administration on the "3+1" bridging program, faculty and student exchanges, summer and winter camps, and research collaboration. Both parties signed a new cooperation agreement for the Confucius Institute and agreed to celebrate the institute's fifth anniversary on November 14 of this year.

On 25th, the delegation met with the China Center at Kiel University to discuss Chinese language teaching and cultural research collaboration. In the afternoon, the delegation visited Kiel University of Applied Sciences, where they discussed the "3+1" inter-university cooperation program, student exchanges, and faculty research collaboration with Professor Helmut Dispert, former Vice President, and leaders from the Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. Later they paid a visit to the department's laboratories and student achievement showcase.

This visit further deepened the collaboration between our university and the University of Finance and Administration in Prague, successfully signing a new cooperation agreement for the Confucius Institute. It also strengthened ties with Kiel University of Applied Sciences and the China Center at Kiel University, provided valuable insights into the needs of Chinese enterprises in Prague and significantly promoted the future development of the Confucius Institute and Silk Road Institute. The visit has fostered friendship and further advanced our international education efforts..
