Oct 11, 2023

On October 10, China Jiliang University held the inaugural opening ceremony for the 2023 Master’s Program in Analytics, a Sino-foreign joint education program. The ceremony was attended by President Xu Jiangrong, Vice President Wang Binrui, Dean of the Graduate School Wang Xinqing, Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Office Wang Jianqi, and Party Secretary Xu Yong of the College of Science, along with other faculty members. Participating online were Rosser Johnson, Associate Dean of the School of Design and Creative Technologies at Auckland University of Technology (AUT), Tek Tjing Lie, Dean of the School of Computer, Information and Mathematical Sciences, Deputy Dean William Wong, Head of the Mathematics Department Jiling Cao, and Winnie Zhu, Project Coordinator for Collaborative Programs, as well as the faculty members of the Data Analytics program. The opening ceremony was hosted by Vice President Wang Binrui and was attended by all new students of the 2023 Data Analytics cohort.

President Xu Jiangrong warmly welcomed the 40 new students on behalf of the university. He reflected on the longstanding collaboration between CJLU and AUT, noting that this program marks a new milestone in their over a decade of friendly cooperation. He expressed his aspiration to deepen the partnership and elevate the level of joint education between the two institutions. President Xu also shared three hopes for the program's first cohort of graduate students: first, to integrate knowledge from both East and West, broadening their international perspective and global thinking; second, to clarify their academic focus and master their specialization, staying attuned to the latest trends in the data industry and striving to become leaders in the field; and third, to combine learning with practical application, aspiring to become a new generation of professionals with global vision, awareness, and innovative spirit.

Professor Tek Tjing Lie, representing Auckland University of Technology, delivered a welcome speech where he provided an overview of the university, covering its history, academic disciplines, faculty, and international collaborations. He also gave a detailed introduction to the School of Computer, Information and Mathematical Sciences, where the Analytics master program is housed. Professor Jiling Cao, Head of the Department of Mathematics, elaborated on the program's curriculum, teaching arrangements, and faculty. Additionally, over ten faculty members involved in the Analytics program introduced themselves and briefly described the courses they would be teaching.

The Master of Analytics program, approved by the Ministry of Education in April 2023, enrolls 40 students annually. Auckland University of Technology provides high-quality faculty to teach in China, while senior faculty from China Jiliang University also contribute to the curriculum. The program lasts 1.5 years, with all coursework completed at CJLU. As one of the most sought-after fields today, the Analytics program received an overwhelming number of applications, and 40 outstanding students were selected after rigorous evaluation by both universities. The university places great importance on this program, with various departments—including the University Office, International Exchange and Cooperation Office, Graduate School, Budget and Finance Office, and Logistics Center—working closely together to ensure a smooth registration and onboarding process for the students.

China Jiliang University will seize this opportunity to continuously enhance the level and quality of its international collaborative programs and drive high-quality development in its global education initiatives.
