The First International Forum on Brand and Brand Standardization Held at China Jiliang University

On September 20, the first International Forum on Brand and Brand Standardization was successfully held at China Jiliang University. Guided by the Zhejiang Provincial Market Supervision Administration and organized by China Jiliang University, the forum was co-hosted by the College of Economics and Management, the "Belt and Road" Regional Standardization Research Center, and the "Belt and Road" University Alliance for Standardization Education and Academics. Under the theme "Innovative Brands Lead the Future", the forum brought together thought leaders and practitioners from various regions in the fields of brand evaluation, brand cultivation, and brand standardization. Participants explored the establishment of a globally unified brand value assessment system and shared experiences in brand building and standardization from their respective countries.

Wang Qing, Deputy Inspector of the Zhejiang Provincial Market Supervision Administration, and Cheng Gang, Vice Secretary of the Party Committee of China Jiliang University, attended the forum and delivered speeches. Wang Qing highlighted the initiatives and achievements in brand building within Zhejiang Province, emphasizing that strengthening brand development is essential for fostering new productive forces and promoting high-quality growth. Cheng Gang briefly introduced the university's history and its focus on brand research, expressing hopes for more exchanges and collaborations in the future with leaders, experts, research institutions, and businesses, to effectively support brand development in China.

The forum was hosted by Le Wei, Dean of the College of Economics and Management at China Jiliang University. Bobby Calder, a professor at Northwestern University and former chair of ISO/TC 289, delivered a keynote address. Other keynote speakers included Liang Litao, former director of the China Academy of Comprehensive Technology, Edgar Baum, a professor at the University of Toronto and representative of ISO/TC 289, Mr. Hu Zhi, President of China United Asset Appraisal Group, and Lü Anran, Director of the International Cooperation Department of the China Brand Development Promotion Association. Yang Zeshi, Dean of the Beijing Research Institute of China Jiliang University, Zhang Dingkang, Secretary of the Party Committee and Dean of the Guangdong Provincial Standardization Research Institute, Chen Qianguan, Deputy Director of the Zhejiang Brand Development Center, and Deputy Director Peng Weidong, along with expert representatives from the Market Supervision Administration of Qiantang District in Hangzhou, the Anhui Provincial Academy of Quality and Standardization, and the Zhejiang Quality Association, also attended the forum.

At the forum, Wu Haijiang, Party Secretary of the College of Economics and Management, presented certificates of appointment to the keynote speakers. Later, attendees visited companies such as Qulian Technology and Hikvision to gain further insights into the brand development and standardization practices of high-tech enterprises.

In 2014, General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of transitioning from "Made in China" to "Created in China", from "Chinese speed" to "Chinese quality", and from "Chinese products" to "Chinese brands" during his visit to China Railway Engineering Equipment Group. This year marks the 10th anniversary of these important directives. The forum was held against this backdrop, aiming to enhance our university's strengths, contribute to Zhejiang Province's efforts to become a strong brand province, and support the development of globally recognized Chinese brands.
