Recently, the team led by Yu Xiaoping at the Institute of Biometry and Inspection Quarantine, College of Life Sciences at China Jiliang University, published a research paper titled "A Target-Triggered Domino Platform for Multimode-Guided Lateral Flow Immunoassay of Multiple β-Agonists" in the prestigious international journal Chemical Engineering Journal. Dr. Zhang Biao from the College of Life Sciences is the first author of the paper, while Researcher Yu Xiaoping and Dr. Lin Xiaodong from the University of California, Riverside, are the co-corresponding authors.
The study integrated Ms-Pd/PtNPs, which possess high catalytic activity, and oxTMB, which exhibits colorimetric and photothermal properties, into an immunochromatographic assay to achieve multimodal visualization, colorimetric, and photothermal sensing for multiple targets. The developed multimodal immunochromatographic method enables the detection of multiple targets in samples of pork, beef, and animal feed. The average recovery rates based on the colorimetric method ranged from 76.0% to 100.8%, while the recovery rates based on the photothermal method ranged from 76.0% to 102.0%. This multimodal immunochromatographic method enhances the flexibility, practicality, and accuracy of analyses, providing a novel approach for instant detection in various application scenarios. The research was supported by projects from the National Key Research and Development Program (2022YFF1101000), the Zhejiang Provincial Natural Science Foundation (LQ23C200006), and the Zhejiang Provincial Key Research and Development Program (2022C02049, 2021C02061).
