I. Safety Engineering

• Major Overview: The major of Safety Engineering was established in 2000, which was the only undergraduate major in safety engineering in Zhejiang province at that time. In the early stage of the program, it is oriented to the requirements of the national quality supervision, inspection and quarantine industry, and aims to cultivate senior engineering and technical talents for safety supervision and management, safety testing of special equipment, etc. Since 2011, it has passed the engineering education certification of Ministry of  Education for three consecutive years. It is the only undergraduate major in safety engineering featured by special equipment safety and quality supervision in China. In 2014, it became an emerging major of Zhejiang province's undergraduate colleges and universities during the 12th Five-Year Plan. In 2019, it was listed as one of the first first-class undergraduate majors in Zhejiang province. In 2021, it was selected as the national first-class undergraduate major. The major always adheres to the characteristics and advantages of metrology, standards and special equipment safety of CJLU, actively responds to the needs of talents for national safety production, market supervision industry and regional economic development of Zhejiang province. It carries out industry-university-research cooperation with China Special Equipment Inspection & Research Institute, Zhejiang Provincial Emergency Management Department, Zhejiang Provincial  Research Institute of Emergency Management,  special equipment inspection & research institutes and metrology institutes of Zhejiang province, Guangdong province, Jiangsu province, Hangzhou city, Ningbo city, Huzhou city, Jiaxing city,etc., providing various opportunities for students' practice and employment. We focus on cultivating high-quality talents in safety engineering with innovative spirit and social responsibility and strive to become a leading one among similar majors, with distinct influence, unique industry advantages and first-class professional level at home and abroad. At present, there are 28 full-time teachers, including 8 professors and 6 associate professors. There are 21 people with doctoral degree, 1 leading scientific and technological innovation talent of "Zhejiang Ten Thousand Talents Program", and 8 Zhejiang provincial safety production/emergency management experts. It has 9 professional laboratories, such as "Special equipment safety detection and evaluation", "man-machine engineering", "fire prevention and anti-explosion", "structural safety", and 6 practice bases jointly built by CJLU and enterprise. As the core member unit, the college has established "Zhejiang Province Technology Innovation Service Platform for Special Equipment, Energy, Environmental Protection and Metrology" and "Zhejiang Province Key Laboratory of Furniture Testing Technology Research", which have created good conditions for the industry-university-research cooperation required for talent training.

• Main Courses:

  (1) Mathematics and natural sciences: advanced mathematics, college physics, chemistry fundamentals of safety engineering;

  (2) Engineering fundamentals: engineering mechanics, engineering fluid mechanics, thermal engineering fundamentals, electrical and electronic technology, mechanical design fundamentals;

  (3) Basic courses: Safety system engineering, safety man-machine engineering, safety management, safety law;

  (4) Professional courses: detection technology, electrical safety engineering, fire and explosion control technology, special equipment safety detection and evaluation, pressure equipment safety technology, chemical technology and chemical safety, noise and vibration control technology, mechanical safety engineering, industrial ventilation and dust removal, construction safety technology.

II. Quality Management Engineering

• Major Overview: The major of Quality Management Engineering was born to meet the urgent demand for quality talents in the quality era. China Jiliang University is the first university approved by the Ministry of Education to offer undergraduate program in quality management engineering. The major of Quality Management Engineering enrolled students for the first time in 2004, became the key major of Zhejiang Province in 2007, and became the national characteristic major in 2010. In 2011, it was listed as the pilot major of "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan" by the Ministry of Education. In 2012, it was approved as the advantageous major of Zhejiang Province, and in 2014, it was approved as the advantageous major in Zhejiang Province during "12th Five-Year Plan". In 2017, it was approved as characteristic major of Zhejiang Province during the "13th Five-Year Plan", and in 2019, it was approved as the national first-class major (the only national first-class major in quality management engineering in China). The mission of the major is to cultivate quality talents who are in line with national strategies such as "strengthening the country with quality" and "high-quality development" as well as the needs of social and economic development, and who are competent to ensure and improve the quality of products and services. The major highlights the comprehensive cultivation of literacy, knowledge and ability, and cultivates quality talents with the awareness of quality management. Our teachers have multi-disciplinary background, of whom more than 70% have years of quality related work experience in enterprises. The curriculum system, curriculum content and training methods are fully integrated with the practice of quality management engineering. It has established more than 20 practice bases with famous enterprises in mechanical and electrical products manufacturing industry, and built 3 enterprise-level production lines (rare in China) for comprehensive skills training related to quality control and improvement of mechanical and electrical products in CJLU. The Quality Engineering Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of Zhejiang Province is unique among similar majors in China, among which the  Safety and Environmental Reliability Testing Laboratory of Household Electrical Applianceshas been recognized by the National CNAS. Over the past 10 years, graduates have been in short supply. The comprehensive quality and ability of graduates are highly recognized by employers. The achievements of major construction and talent training have won 1 first prize and 1 second prize of Zhejiang provincial teaching achievements award. The major has always led the construction of quality management engineering and quality personnel cultivation in China. It is the only quality major at the highest level (six stars) in China. The major initiated the establishment of the National Quality Management Engineering Association, and CJU has been elected as the chair unit for two terms.

• Main courses: Management, operational research and system engineering, metrology management, standardization engineering, statistical quality control, measurement system analysis, mechanical and electrical products quality inspection, test design, quality management system, quality certification, quality economics, reliability engineering, supplier quality management, service quality management, quality analysis and improvement, quality information system, etc.

III. Environmental Engineering

• Major Overview: The major of Environmental Engineering was formally established in 2009. There are 29 full-time teachers, including 1 national "Distinguished Young Scholar", 3 professors and 9 associate professors. There are a number of laboratories, such as environmental monitoring, environmental microbiology, environmental pollution control, industrial carbon measurement, industrial health and protection, environmental intelligent monitoring and simulation, to meet the needs of students' experimental ability cultivation. We have signed internship agreements with Hangzhou Environmental Monitoring Station, Hangzhou Tianchuang Water and other relevant enterprises and institutions to provide a good platform for students' practice. At present, the major is trying to conform to the international standards of engineering education by referring to the Washington Agreement (International Agreement on Mutual Recognition of Bachelor Degree in Engineering Education). Now the discipline of Environment Science ranks among top 1% in ESI.

  (3) Basic courses: principles of environmental engineering, environmental monitoring, environmental engineering microbiology;

  (4) Professional courses: air pollution control engineering, water pollution control engineering, solid waste treatment and disposal, physical pollution control, environmental impact assessment, environmental planning and management, environmental systems engineering, environmental engineering project management, environmental engineering CAD technology, environmental instrument analysis.
