I. Optoelectronic Information Science and Engineering
Students in this major will be able to adapt to the needs of modern optoelectronic and information technology and regional economic development, and master solid basic theoretical knowledge and skilled practical application skills, ability to analyze and solve engineering problems using optoelectronic information science theory and technology. Undergratuate students can be engaged in scientific research, production design, technical service, metrological testing and management in the fields of optical technology, optoelectronic technology, information technology, metrological standard testing and so on. This profession passes the engineering education profession certification, and are among the first group of national first-class undergraduate programs, the first group of national characteristic programs, the first group of national comprehensive reform pilot programs, the first group of key programs in Zhejiang province, and the dominant programs in Zhejiang province during the 12th five-year plan and the 13th five-year plan. There are National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center and Zhejiang Provincial Teaching Team. There are one national first-class curriculum and four Zhejiang provincial first-class curriculums. The major of Optical Engineering, which is a key discipline in Zhejiang province and a key discipline of General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, has the right to confer doctoral degree. II. Electronic Science and Technology
The major of Electronic Science and Technology is a high-tech interdisciplinary major covering physical electronics, microelectronics and solid-state electronics, circuits and systems, electromagnetic fields and microwaves, and optoelectronic detection technology. The aim of the major is to cultivate senior technical talents who can engage in the design, manufacturing and related research and development of various electronic materials, components, integrated circuits, integrated electronic systems, optoelectronic systems, etc. In 2011, the major obtained the right to confer master's degrees in electronic science and technology. In 2013, the major passes the engineering education certification of the Ministry of Education and became the third one of its kind in the country. In the same year, it was recognized as "Excellent Engineer Program" by the Ministry of Education. In 2014, it was listed as an emerging characteristic major in Zhejiang province, and it was listed as a national first-class major in 2021. Now there are many teaching and research teams and platforms, including Zhejiang Province Key Science and Technology Innovation Team of Semiconductor Lighting, the first Zhejiang provincial key laboratory "Zhejiang Province Key Laboratory of Modern Measurement Technology and Instrument" , the "Engineering Research Center of Metrology Technology and Instrument, Ministry of Education", and Solar Cell Testing Laboratory, supporting the teaching and scientific research activities. The major focuses on the needs of social development, which helps students become competitive in job market. The students can also apply for further study in physical electronics, circuits and systems, microelectronics and solid-state electronics, optical engineering, electromagnetic fields, microwave technology, etc.
III. Microelectronic Science and Engineering
The major of Microelectronic Science and Engineering covers the fields of integrated circuit technology, semiconductor devices and materials, and integrated circuit design. It is a comprehensive major integrating cutting-edge and multidisciplinary theories and technologies, and is the core discipline of the electronic information industry in the 21st century. The major has the right to confer master's degree in Electronic Science and Technology. The teaching environment is superior, and there are advanced laboratories for microelectronics technology, integrated circuit CAD and semiconductor device testing, focusing on the cultivation of integrated circuit design, testing and system integration ability. The employment rate of graduates in recent three years has exceeded 98%. The teaching team is strong, of which more than 80% have doctor's degrees, and have a high level of professional teaching and research abilities. Teachers have won honorary titles such as Distinguished Professor of Zhejiang Province, and presided over many national, provincial and ministerial projects and major enterprise projects.
IV. Functional Materials
The major of Functional Materials is a major for national strategic emerging industry and also a key characteristic major of Zhejiang province. With the aid of the national and provincial teaching and research platforms, teachers in the major have won a number of awards, such as Zhejiang Provincial Technological Invention Award and Zhejiang Provincial Teaching Achievement Award. The team includes a lot of national and provincial talents, such as Teachers Enjoying Special Allowances from the State Council, Young and Middle-aged Scientific and Technological Innovation Leaders of the Ministry of Science and Technology, teachers selected in Zhejiang Provincial Ten Thousand Talents Program, Zhejiang Provincial Distinguished Professors, and Zhejiang Provincial Excellent Teachers.
The major focuses on the optical and electrical performances of functional materials, and aims to cultivate senior professionals in preparation and detection of functional materials. The innovation and practical abilities are trained by integrating scientific and technological innovations in teachings. The graduates can work in quality inspection field, enterprises and research institutions, including LED lighting, new energy materials, photoelectric detection and other fields.
Undergraduates in this major have published more than 30 SCI papers as first author, have been authorized 5 national invention patents and 8 utility model patents, and have won more than 10 prizes in national and provincial competitions. Three graduates have been honored as Zhejiang provincial excellent graduates. In 2021, 50% of the undergraduate students went to graduate schools for further study after graduation. In addition, the postgraduates in this major have a chance to become doctoral students in the joint doctoral program with Université de Rennes 1 in France with full scholarships and without test.
