The College of Information Engineering has three research institutes: Research Institute of Electronic Information and Communication, Research Institute of Computer Technology and Application, Research Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Information.
Based on the first-level discipline of Information and Communication Engineering, the Research Institute of Electronic Information and Communication has formed four research directions after years of development: "Terahertz Wave and Microwave Communication", "Theory and Devices of Information Functional Materials", "Wireless Signal Processing and System Testing" and "Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence". "Terahertz Wave and Microwave Communication" is one of the characteristic directions of the Institute, which mainly include THZ wave wireless communication, THZ wave functional devices, THZ sensing technology, microwave communication devices, etc. Researchers in the Research Institute of Electronic Information and Communication has published a series of papers on Appl. Optics，Optics Exp., Optics Commun.，IEEE Photonic Technol. Lett. The Institute has won the second prize of Natural Science Award of Zhejiang Province in 2015 and the Second prize of Science and Technology Award of Zhejiang Province in 2013.
The Research Institute of Computer Technology and Application carries out scientific research based on the characteristics of "metrology, quality and standards" of CJLU, and has formed three research directions: "Intelligent Computing and Software Theory", "Machine Vision and Detection Technology" and "Sensor Network and Smart Healthcare". Intelligent Computing and Software Theory mainly focuses on intelligent computing, software theory, scientific computing visualization and other fields. Artificial Intelligence is used to study the key issues of data classification, prediction, feature recognition and so on in bioinformatics. Two of the scientific research achievements have won the Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology Award. Machine Vision and Detection Technology mainly focuses on the research of machine vision, digital image processing, automatic detection and other fields. It has characteristics and advantages in medical pathology image analysis, product defect detection, automatic control of production line and simulation of human vision mechanism. The research direction of "Sensor Network and Smart Healthcare" mainly focuses on sensor network, smart healthcare, mobile internet and other fields.
The Research Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Information focuses on 3 research directions: "Biomedical Electronics", "Medical Image Processing" and "MRI Imaging and Quality Inspection". "MRI Imaging and Quality Inspection" is the characteristic research direction of the Institute. It involves the fusion of magnetic, electrical, mechanical, material and other technologies, including the construction of detection phantom, constant magnetic field uniformity detection, gradient magnetic field linearity detection, radio frequency design, pulse sequence design, image acquisition and post-processing algorithm, etc.
