In 2019, Zhejiang Province Key Laboratory of Rare Earth Optoelectronic Materials and Devices was established by Zhejiang Provincial Science and Technology Department. The laboratory is mainly based on Institute of Optoelectronic Materials and Devices, China Jiliang University, having doctorate authorization for optical engineering, two Zhejiang provincial first-class discipline---optical engineering and materials science and engineering. The two disciplines of optical engineering and materials science and engineering are master degree programs.The laboratory is an important research institution supporting the two disciplines of engineering and chemistry rank top 1% ESI. The Key laboratory is the director and secretary-general unit of the Professional Committee of Optoelectronic Materials and Devices of China Rare Earth Society, the vice chairman unit of Zhejiang Materials Research Society, and has the second-level secrecy qualification certificate of weapons equipment scientific research and production.
The key laboratory has hosted or undertaken more than 100 scientific research projects such as nationanal defense research and development plans, national international science and technology cooperation projects, the national key research and development plan projects, national natural science funds, major international cooperation projects, major R&D projects in Zhejiang province, major basic research projects in Zhejiang province, Zhejiang province outstanding youth science funds programs, enterprise projects and so on. The lab focuses on four research directions: theoretical calculation and micro/nano structure control, rare earth optoelectronic lighting materials and devices, rare earth optoelectronic laser materials and devices, rare earth micro/nano optoelectronic sensing materials and devices. It helps train students for bachelor's, master's and doctor's degrees in optoelectronic materials and devices.
