Invited by the College of Life Sciences, Chinese-American Chemical Ecology expert Dr. Zhang Qinghe visited our university on October 18th. During this visit, Vice President of the university Yu Xiaoping had a meeting with Dr. Zhang. Deputy Director of the International Department Chen Jiangguo, President of the College of Life Sciences Zhu Cheng, Vice President Han Baoyu, and Huang Lijiang also attended the meeting.
Dr. Zhang Qinghe presented an academic report for the majority of teachers and students of the College of Life Sciences, entitled “Semiochemical-based Pest Management: Theory, Technology and Trade,” which introduced new developments and the direction of future research about the chemical ecology of insects. After the report, Dr.Zhang visited laboratories of the college and planned a week of cooperative study about tea plant and insect pheromone extraction, identification, and assay of content with the college.
Dr. Zhang Qinghe is a well-known international expert in the chemical ecology of insects and has served as a foreign expert in a major project appraisal of the National Nature Science Foundation of China. He has closely cooperated with a number of well-known domestic research institutes and universities, including our university.
