On September 8th, Auckland University of Technology Professor Keith Hooper was invited by the College of Economics and Management and gave a lecture titled "English Paper Writing and Publishing." Faculty from the College of Economics and Management, Party and government leaders, other teachers, postgraduates and nearly 40 people attended the lecture. The lecture was hosted by Yi Ronghua, President of the College of Economics and Management.
Keith Hooper is a professor in the Accounting Department of Auckland University of Technology and has served as the editor of two magazines, "Pacific Accounting Review" and "Qualitative Research in Accounting and Management." In this lecture, Professor Hooper used his published article as an example, describing English paper writing and the publishing process. Talking about how to establish the viewpoint in an article, Professor Hooper argued that one should expand one’s reading horizons and strengthen communication with others; in research methods, he explained the differences between qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis. Based on his own experience, he encouraged everybody to use the qualitative analysis method to write English articles; in this form, his manuscripts number of words, such as font format gives a detailed and reasonable proposals, summarizes the submission skills. When papers submitted for publication are rejected, he encouraged everyone to be undaunted, and to be active and to effectively use feedback in order to make changes to improve the quality and conciseness of manuscripts.
Following the lecture, the teachers and students had an extensive and congenial discussion with Professor Hooper about their concerns. Professor Hooper’s lecture was humorous and rich in content. With both the details of experience and theory, it provided strong guidance in English writing and publication for teachers and students. When it ended, the lecture was warmly applauded.
