On June 8, Zhejiang Provincial Promotion Conference on the Belt and Road Construction and Zhejiang Provincial “The Belt and Road” Thinktank Forum were held in Ningbo. Yuan Jiajun, deputy secretary of CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee and governor of Zhejiang province hosted the conference. Che Jun, secretary of CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee delivered a keynote speech at the conference. Over 140 foreign guests and over 200 representatives of Chinese and foreign entrepreneurs from over 60 countries and regions including Indonesia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Turkmenistan, Slovakia, Kenya, Jordan, Thailand, Oman, the Czech Republic, etc. attended the Conference. Song Mingshun, president of CJLU was invited to deliver a lecture titled Superior Industry Standards Contributing to Interconnectivity of the Belt and Road at Zhejiang Provincial “The Belt and Road” Thinktank Forum. The forum was hosted by Zhou Huafu, dean and secretary of the Leading Party Members’ Group of Zhejiang Development & Planning Institute.
In the lecture, Song Mingshun elaborated on the soft connectivity of standards, introduced current superior industry standards in China including Standard on Power Transmission and Distribution, Standard on the 5G Mobile Communication, Standard on High-speed Train, Standard on E-commerce, Standard on Targeted Poverty Alleviation and Standard on Public Service, stressed the important role of standards in the Belt and Road construction, and proposed methods and measures to facilitate interconnectivity of the Belt and Road through standards, which contributed CJLU thinking and solution in the field of standards to the forum.
The conference released a list with 56 items of Zhejiang Provincial Belt and Road Construction Achievements for the first time. Two items of CJLU are listed in the achievements, namely, “Establishment of B&R University Alliance for Standardization Education and Academics” and “Establishment of Confucius Institute in Countries along the Belt and Road”.
On May 20, 2018, CJLU launched the establishment of B&R University Alliance for Standardization Education and Academics. At present, 106 universities from 31 countries and regions have acceded to the Alliance, which includes 37 overseas universities. On October 16, 2018, Hanban officially approved the joint establishment of Confucius Institute by CJLU and University of Finance and Administration (VSFS) in Prague. On November 21, 2018, the nameplate of Confucius Institute was jointly unveiled by Sun Chunlan, Chinese Vice Premier of the State Council, Chen Baosheng, Minister of Education of the People's Republic of China and other leaders in Prague of the Czech Republic.
