On August 25, the inaugural meeting of the first student technical committees was held at China Jiliang University (CJLU). Held both online and offline, the meeting was attended by over 160 people, including Guo Chenguang, deputy director-general of Department of Standards Innovative Management, State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR); Huang Li, director of ISO Liaison Office, Department of Standards Innovative Management of SAMR; Xu Jianjun, director of Office for Standards Implementation and Supervision, Department of Standards Innovative Management of SAMR; Song Mingshun, president of CJLU; leaders from relevant departments of CJLU as well as members and instructors of Student Technical Committees.
Guo Chenguang pointed out that standards are world's common language and international permits of trade. With the growing trend of economic globalization, increasing importance has been attached to standardization in various countries. He encouraged youth to actively participate in standardization, contributing to the development of national and international standardization.
Song Mingshun pointed out that the establishment of student technical committees is a new breakthrough in standardization education and practice. CJLU will actively explore real-situation teaching for international standardization talents, providing an opportunity for students to immerse themselves in international standardization, which contributes to the development of standardization in China and provide Chinese solution to talent cultivation of international standardization.
After 4 months’ elaborate preparation, CJLU has established Student Technical Committee on Standardization of Education Evaluation, Student Technical Committee on Standardization of Digital Economy Services, Student Technical Committee on Standardization of Common Prosperity Evaluation, and Student Technical Committee on Standardization of Social New Retail Management, and the secretariats are all based at CJLU. 148 students from 10 universities across China are members of the first Student Technical Committees.
At the meeting, Zhang Pengyue, dean of College of Standardization, and Hu Jing, associate professor of College of Economics & Management delivered speeches on behalf of secretariats of student technical committees. The chairs of four student technical committees introduced their work plans respectively.
International organizations also highly value the cultivation of international standardization talents. A series of activities for training the next generation experts and young professionals in standardization have been organized by ISO and IEC. The establishment of student technical committees at CJLU is an innovative activity for cultivating international standardization talents, with the joint efforts of Standardization Administration of the P.R.C. (SAC) and International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
It is learned that CJLU will train the members by providing a series of lectures such as “Standards development and case study”, “Fundamental knowledge of international standardization”, “Project features and standardized management methods” and “ISO and international standards development”.
